Until we started going through this fertility journey, I never realized how many things have to be in perfect alignment in order for conception to happen. For people who say there isn't a God, they must not understand the process it takes just to get pregnant. It is so incredible how God has uniquely and intricately designed our bodies.
I'm thankful for the knowledge and advancement of medicine that God has given doctors to be able to provide the care and treatment we need. Both Tiffany and I have had to go through so many doctors appointments and take many different medications in order to help us conceive, and I wanted to share my experience with male fertility issues.
Having difficulty with trying to have a baby was nothing that had ever crossed my mind. I thought that it would be an easy process. Man was I wrong. After seeing a fertility specialist, I had to be assessed as well to make sure that anything that my wife and I did would be effective. I had to do bloodwork along with a semen analysis to make sure my numbers were where they needed to be. So, I did my thing, and the results came back as not what I wanted or expected. My testosterone was extremely low which affected other things that are needed in the baby making process. The results did explain why I had been tired for the past couple of years and had other various changes. I never wanted to admit I had an issue at such a young age, but I had my suspicions and never wanted to get tested. I felt as if I would not be a man anymore. Anyway, I digressed a little.
After I received the results, I would makes jokes to my wife about how I was “half the man she deserves." For some context, my testosterone levels were a little less than half of what it was supposed to be for my age. My wife was not a fan of all the jokes. All jokes aside, it was a little disheartening, but I did not feel like less than a man. Being a man is more than the amount of testosterone that is flowing through my body at any given time. Being a man is providing a safe and warm environment for my wife and future family. It means working to advance myself to ensure that my wife and family will never go without.
Currently, I'm taking medication which has helped everything to improve. Just a simple pill every other day, along with other daily vitamins. I've noticed that my energy levels have improved significantly. Having low testosterone was a slight bump in the road, but thankfully it was something that could be changed quickly. Even though our journey to start a family has looked a little different than we both expected, we will continue to trust God throughout the process.
